HISTORICAL SUMMARY
Sealyham terrier is a terrier dog breed developed in Great Britain, whose physique features short legs and a large beard. They were bred in the 19th century to hunt otters and badgers.

BEHAVIOR AND TEMPERAMENT: Strong, hunter and skilled. Alert and brave, but naturally friendly.
HEAD:
CRANIAL REGION
Skull: Slightly domed, wide between the ears.
FACIAL REGION
Truffle: Black.
Muzzle: With square jaws, powerful and long.
Jaws and Teeth: Teeth aligned and strong with the canines well inserted and long for the size of the dog. Jaws strong, with a regular scissor bite.
Cheeks: Cheek bones not protruding.
Eyes: Dark, well set, round and of medium size. Eye rims, preferably pigmented and dark, but depigmented are tolerated.
Ears: Of medium size, slightly rounded at the tips and carried on the sides of the cheeks.
NECK: Fairly long, thick and muscular; well set in the shoulders.
BODY: Of medium length, flexible.
Back: Level.
Chest: Broad and deep, well let down between the forelegs.
Ribs: Well sprung.
TAIL: Of medium length, providing balance to the dog. Thick at the root and tapering towards the tip. Ideally, it is carried upright, but not excessively turned towards the back and without curves or twists. The buttocks should be prominent beyond the tail set.
MEMBERS
FOREQUARTERS: Short, strong and as straight as possible, consistent, with a well-let chest.
Shoulders: The point of the shoulder in line with the point of the elbow.
Elbows: Very close to the chest.
HINDQUARTERS: Clearly powerful for the size of the dog.
Thighs: Deep and muscular.
Knees: Well angulated.
Hocks: Strong, well bent and parallel to each other.
Paws: Round, “cat paws”, with thick pads. The paws are directed forward.
GAIT/MOVEMENT: Fast and vigorous, with plenty of drive.
COAT
Hair: Long, rough and wiry. Weather resistant undercoat.
COLOR: All white or white with lime, brown, blue or badger-colored spots on the head and ears. Too much black or intense mottling is undesirable.
SIZE: Size should not exceed 31 cm at the shoulders.
WEIGHT: Males approximately: 9 kg. Females approximately: 8.2 kg.
FAULTS
Any deviation from this standard should be considered a fault and penalized in exact proportion to its severity and its effects on the health and well being of the dog.
DISQUALIFYING FAULTS
• Aggressiveness or excessive shyness.
• Any dog that shows any sign of physical or behavioral anomaly must be disqualified.
• Atypical dogs.
